“But let all who take refuge in you be
glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may
rejoice in you.”
(Psalm 5:11 NIV)
God sent a
rodeo clown to help protect us.
While driving
west on Interstate 10 from Tucson to Phoenix, a large rock flew up from an 18 wheeler
rig’s tire and hit my windshield. It sounded like a gunshot! I called my
insurance company. After several phone calls, I decided to wait until we were
home in Georgia to have my car repaired.
The damage
spread across the windshield like tinsel on a Christmas tree. A simple repair developed
into a replacement. Upon arrival at home, we were at the mercy of the weather. The
phone call finally came to tell us the repairman was on his way. He arrived
with his Blue Heeler dog in the front seat of his Ford F150 4x4 and our new
windshield in the cargo bed.
During the
installation we conversed and learned a lot about this former Texan – a
real-life rodeo clown. Our new friend firmly told us that he was a rodeo
protection athlete, not a clown. “Clowns tell jokes,” he explained. Although his
legs had been badly injured in rodeos, he deftly climbed and maneuvered around
my Tahoe like it was a bull in the ring. We were given quite a show!
God uses
angels in many forms to serve in His kingdom. Jeff and I are thankful He sent a
Rodeo Protection Athlete/Rodeo Clown to install my new windshield to keep us
safe on the road. We laughed and shared many things with him, including our
hankering for a Whataburger.
I will rejoice in the perfect protection provided by my heavenly Father. I hope you will, too!
