“His master replied, “Well done, good
and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few
things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s
happiness!”
(Matthew 25:21 NIV)
A new friend recently met me for lunch at a local coffee
shop. I picked her experienced, writer’s brain.
“Just start writing… small, baby steps,” she offered. “You
don’t have to publish a book or do anything grandiose. The Spirit will guide you
in what He wants you to write.” Scratching the surface, I acclimate to the
waters before I dive into the depths of His plans for my writing. I walk along
the beach of His stories, stick my toes in, enjoy the wonder of His words.
“No hurry, no rush,” echoes in my mind like rhythmic, gentle
waves on the shore. Sometimes it feels like a tidal wave washing over me, full
force, knocking me off my feet, dragging me away in the undertow.
Fifteen years ago I accepted the call in my heart to become
a Christian Writer. Naïve and a little foolish at the time, I dove in and
almost drowned. Like Moses taking matters into his own hands, I jumped the gun.
Nothing happened. I was dead in the water, confused, frustrated. My waiting
time was just beginning, preparing me for what was to come.
I am encouraged that God doesn’t change. He lives in the
shallows as well as the deep. His plans and purposes are perfect and will always
stand. I am His pen, His keyboard, His instrument, a speck of dust in His vast
universe of time and space, sustained by amazing grace!
I will spend time diving deeper into His love, His words, His
plans today. I hope you will, too!
Thanks for reminding me that God's timing I'd usually not ours but His is perfect!
