“Stop listening to instruction, my son,
and you will stray from the words of
knowledge.”
(Proverbs 19:27 NIV)
In a box
of old keepsakes in the attic I found letters written to me by my husband, Jeff.
His love came during our engagement from Houston to Pensacola in the form of a precious
collection of his thoughts. I felt like I was there with him as I read his
carefully crafted words.
The Bible
is God’s love letter to us. He wants us to understand and experience His
perfect, unconditional love, so He inspired many writers to depict it through
words. The Bible is God’s love in written form, and Jesus is God’s love in the
form of a human baby asleep in a beast’s feeding trough.
“In the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.”
(John 1:1 NIV)
“His name is the Word of God.”
(Revelation 19:13b NIV)
Years ago
I asked a pastor if it was ok to be in love with Jesus. He replied, “I hope it
is, because I am.” God’s Love Letters not only remind me that I will be with
Him again soon, but that I can trust Him.
Can you
imagine being in love with someone far away and not opening their letters to
you? I wonder why some believers don’t crave the love revealed in His words.
Every
morning I write love letters to God and read His love letters to me. My
life, my choices, my thoughts are my gifts to my Savior. His words live in me - I need them to stay
close to Him. Impeccable instructions found in His wisdom are the only guidance
that makes sense in this fallen world. Wouldn’t you agree?
I will cherish
every word in God’s Love Letters. I hope you will, too!
