“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will
uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10 NIV)
As an
Amazon Prime member, I receive monthly emails with new eBooks’ selections. I
choose one to download for free and most often select a mystery or historical
novel. This month I scanned the entire list, down to the children’s book. To my
surprise it was “Julius and Macy – A Very Brave Night” by Annelouise Mahoney.
Who is
this namesake, Macy? Julius is a badger and Macy is a mouse. Best of friends, they
pretend to be dauntless, super heroes fighting trolls in the forest. After a
tiring adventure they stop to rest and enjoy a snack. Their munchies were filched,
stolen by the Night Goblin! Julius and Macy pick up their swords and follow
their noses to a cave where a badger is discovered gobbling up their goodies.
Fears soon vanish and a new alliance is formed.
Our
grandson, Noah, came for a visit with his father. As an energetic two-year-old,
almost three, he loves to play “Hide and Seek.” Noah has not yet learned the
art of the game. When you call out his name, he responds with “What?” from his
hiding place.
It was my
turn to hide. Like a little mouse, I crouched under my desk as my son, Alex, and
Noah climbed the stairs. They found me in the first place they looked! I
laughed at their quick discovery and Alex helped me to my feet. I think my
presence surprised them more than it frustrated me.
I will be God’s brave little mouse and valiantly face any goblins that might be lurking in a cave or hiding place. I hope you will too!
