“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
(Psalm 139:23 NIV)
My laptop
computer was not performing as it should. I contacted Best Buy’s Geek Squad
online via chat and ordered a diagnostic review. Kainat gained control of my
computer remotely and jumped through several screens to remove hundreds of
temporary files.
I watched
the show on my desktop as words flashed across in mini windows: File Transfer
Complete, Script Started, and Script Executed. The longest scan detected over
twelve thousand files. Zero files were found to be infected. I breathed a sigh
of relief. The ordeal took over an hour of early morning time on my computer,
but was well worth it. It was much better than driving to the nearest concrete-and-mortar
Best Buy, nearly forty-five minutes away.
Thankfully,
my Dell Inspiron was like new again, clean as a whistle, or as tidy as a
computer can be. The waiting process gave me needed time to slow down, sit
back, and ask my heavenly Father to scan my heart. Just like the Geek Squad
technician, God can touch my heart “remotely” and cleanse it of all malware,
viruses, and useless information that can slow down my kingdom efforts.
“The sun of righteousness will rise
with healing in its wings.”
(Malachi 4:2 NIV)
God’s scan
can detect all my anxious thoughts and gather them under His wings. He can hide
them away and touch them with His perfect cleansing power. He can use my
thoughts to lead me in the right direction, away from dangerous pitfalls like
pity and pride. I need only to chat with Him, ask Him, and give Him remote
rights to all my processes.
I will
submit to the Holy Spirit to scan and cleanse my heart’s motives. I hope you
will, too!
