“And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in
Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:19 NIV)
One of my
favorite choral pieces I performed with the Morgan County High School Choir as
their accompanist was “He Never Failed Me Yet” by Robert Ray. I sang it with
the Madison Presbyterian Church choir and later accompanied the Madison First
United Methodist Church choir while they sang this popular piece. I now play the
piano for my church’s choir to sing this encouraging gospel anthem.
This song
rattles around in my brain and in the minds of other performers. I wake up in
the night singing the peppy tune put to these inspiring words:
I will sing of God's mercy
Every day, every hour
He gives me power.
I will sing and give thanks to Thee
For all the dangers, toils, and snares
That He has brought me out.
He is my God and I'll serve Him
No matter what the test
Trust and never doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out
He never failed me yet.
According
to Google: “Robert Ray (1946-2022) was a renowned composer and arranger, best
known for his work in sacred and gospel music. “He Never Failed Me Yet” is a
vibrant testament to enduring faith and God’s unwavering presence, rooted in
Black gospel tradition and powerfully rendered by the beloved composer.”
No matter how
I struggle - unplanned trips, postponed appointments, difficult relationships,
or issues with health or wealth - I know Jesus is with me and will walk with me
through it all. He will deliver you, too! He has never failed me yet!
One day when my weary soul is at rest
I'm going home to be forever blessed
I will trust
and never doubt my heavenly Father, who loves me more than I know. I hope you
will, too!
