“For the kingdom of God is not a matter
of talk
but of power.”
(1 Corinthians 4:20 NIV)
Oswald
Chambers wrote: “The moral miracle of Redemption is that God can put into me a
new disposition whereby I can live a totally new life!”
I pondered
that thought one morning after despairing over my poor choices in the past.
Could it be that the Holy Spirit living in me can turn me in a new direction
and help me to see the best way more clearly? Even better, can He help me to
want to change and make better choices?
I am like
the monster armadillos we have captured in our yard lately. My husband’s trap
is a worn-out wooden box that smells like armadillos. So, the pest, blind as he
is, follows his ugly nose into the trap, lured by the scent. An armadillo
cannot help but follow his nose. God made him that way.
My eyes
are like an armadillo’s nose. The assistant manager of the Gift Gallery and I
went on a mini buying trip to Athens. The Burton + Burton Outlet was like a
candy store to me. The prices were super reasonable, and we had to be very
selective and not buy one of everything. Making the right choices was critical. We escaped with a full cart for less than $150!
Joni
Eareckson Tada wrote, “When we sit close to self-scrutiny, when we examine our
motives, words, and actions to make certain we are building for eternal glory,
then heaven will seem as close as a heartbeat.”
Every
morning is a fresh new start, a new chance to serve in God’s kingdom. My goal
is to make each day count in eternal ways, to be more like Jesus.
I will
follow the Holy Spirit today into a new life. I hope you will, too!
