It's Coming!

by Macy Johnson

“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.”

(Revelation 21:2 NIV)

There is so much in life to look forward to. Whatever you are planning right now, if it is God’s will you can bet it’s on its way!

Fear paralyzed me as I unfolded our new tent from its packaging, laid it out on the grass in front of me, and took a long, apprehensive look. I walked over to read the instructions sewn into the carrying case. Words, few and jumbled, and drawings not very clear, nevertheless stirred my husband and me to start with the first step.

Jeff pieced the structure together as I relayed each suggested procedure. Soon, the tent was up and my confidence was bolstered! I was ready to go camping for the first time since the 1980’s and more excited about the upcoming adventure.

I am a roller coaster enthusiast. As the snake of cars rolls up the steep incline, I can hear my heart pounding, “It’s coming!” A thrill explodes as I peer over the top and whiz down on the weaving, winding tracks.

Life is like a roller coaster. I imagine myself riding the daily ups-and-downs with Jesus. As opportunities and challenges surface on the ride to the top, I know the ride down will take my breath away with Him seated next to me. It is all part of His perfect plan.

My well-worn tendency is to run ahead of God and try to work things out my way. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit exhorts me to slow down and reminds me that He must be in charge. I must trust His textbook timing and perfect plans.

I will look forward to whatever God is bringing my way today. I hope you will, too!
