“Jesus did many other things as well.
If every one of them were written
down,
I suppose that even the whole world
would not have room for the books that
would be written.”
(John 21:25 NIV)
My
husband, Jeff, and I sat on the dock with my cousin at her lake house late one
evening. While we watched the almost-full moon rise over the trees across the
water, she told us of an encounter many years ago. As a young teen on her bike with
neighborhood friends, she was stunned when something unusually bright skipped
across the clear night sky. She scratched the surface of the unknown.
Things are
not always as we expect. Google maps claimed my son’s new home was in the
middle of a very long block in a new subdivision. It, in fact, was the first
house on the right when we turned onto his street. Confusion set in as the house
numbers got higher. We passed several houses still under construction before we
decided to make a U-turn.
Our minds
are limited. We often don’t know how to process thoughts, sights, and sounds
that go deeper than our experiences.
“That night the king could not sleep;
so he ordered the book of the chronicles,
the record of his reign, to be brought
in and read to him.”
(Esther 6:1 NIV)
Thankfully,
Esther’s husband was receptive to his Creator’s suggestion to recall. How many
revelations wait for us to discover? How many times has our heavenly Father
interceded in the lives of the faithful? All that God has done and is doing
could never be written by man. Let Him scratch the surface of your heart and
write His love on it today.
I will seek
to pay attention to what God is revealing as I journey with Him. I hope you
will, too!
