“I will give you the treasures of
darkness, riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the
Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by
name.”
(Isaiah 45:3 NIV)
“Do you
know the Muffin Man?” The tune to that children’s song swirled in my brain
as I made rounds to close up the house for the night. But my words instead
were, “Have you seen my muffin pan?”
My husband
said he put it someplace different, realizing it might be difficult to locate.
We searched everywhere. I resolved to baking cornbread in a cake pan. Whenever
it crossed my mind, I asked God to please reveal to me where the lost pan was
hiding.
On a trip
to Publix I searched for a muffin pan. Jeff said if I got a new one, the old
one would suddenly appear. God told me to wait.
As I
climbed into bed with that tune in my head, I pictured the cabinet next to the
dishwasher. It has vertical slats to stand cutting boards on end. I shoved the
thought aside, because I had checked there. Then it dawned on me to check again
with a flashlight.
I climbed
out of bed, seized the flashlight near the front door, got on my knees, and
shone the light into each slot, inspecting every inch of space. Could it be?
Yes it was! Shoved behind two large wooden cutting boards was my muffin pan!
Only God could have revealed it to me.
I
carefully placed the pan in a conspicuous spot where I could easily find it
next time I want to bake cornbread muffins. It is with all my other baking
pans, right where it belongs.
I will
trust God to reveal things hidden in secret places. I hope you will, too!
