“Flesh gives birth to flesh,
but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”
(John 3:6 NIV)
One
morning while considering upcoming devotions, the Lord revealed to me that each
of the blogs He has given me has a life of its own. He gives me the thoughts,
the words, and the story which is born when it is posted online. Some may view
the “baby” on its birthday, but others are touched by its “life” days, months, even
years later.
Just as
God uses people to point others to Him, He uses the words of His children to
bring hearers and readers closer to His presence. Everything we do is the
beginning of something new. Every thought, every action gives birth to a new
life in one form or another.
“Squeak,
squeak, squeak!” “Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!” I started my car on two
different mornings to the same old tunes. That was enough! I resolutely decided
to drop off my car at the shop. I told the mechanic about the squeals and our
upcoming road trip to Arizona. “We need to be able to trust my car to get us
there and back safely,” I said.
Several
hours later Gary called with bad news – my car had a failing water pump. A new
story was born. Thankfully, this one had a good ending. If we had not been
alerted by God that there was something wrong with my car, we could have been
stranded somewhere out in west Texas in the summer heat. This story ends on a
high, although expensive, note filled with joy!
God
breathes life into me and gives me new stories many times a day. Like a mother
giving birth to a baby, new praises spring from my soul continually.
I will
rejoice in all new births of life. I hope you will, too!
