“When the king of Egypt was told that
the people had fled,
Pharaoh and his officials changed their
minds about them
and said, ‘What have we done?
We have let the Israelites go and have
lost their services!’”
(Exodus 14:5 NIV)
It
happened again. My body is falling apart. Twice before I have had a medical
procedure and hoped I was done with this issue. Not quite, though. It was time
to decide whether to go through the painful process again or not.
I had
decided not to proceed when God led me to google the pros and cons of having
this particular procedure, which was similar, but different from the others I
had. The facts stared me in the face and changed my mind. I decided to go
through with it.
A dear
friend sent me a YouTube video. It was a lecture given by Rosaria Butterfield, a
former LGBTQ+ advocate who had heard the gospel and surrendered her life to
Jesus. What a powerful testimony she gave! The Holy Spirit had helped her
change her mind and her behavior.
God knows
we humans like to go down our paths full speed. But sometimes He helps us to
think things through and for one reason or another stop and change our direction.
He changed Pharaoh’s mind so He would be glorified in the Israelite escape.
My loving
heavenly Father will not allow me to continue down a path that is not the best
one for me. He steps in at the perfect time and turns my head. I want the easy
way, but He knows a better way that will help me to grow stronger in the faith
He has given me.
I will welcome
the Holy Spirit to make me aware of new opportunities to change my thinking. I
hope you will, too!
