“Then I saw three evil spirits that
looked like frogs;
they came out of the mouth of the
dragon,
out of the mouth of the beast,
and out of the mouth of the false
prophet.”
(Revelation 16:13 NIV)
I walked
to the top of our driveway to get the mail. There was a loud croaking coming
from the water-filled ditch across the road. I stealthily crossed the street to
investigate. Frogs croaked from several directions, but I couldn’t see them.
Sudden silence. They sensed a predator nearby. I poked a stick into the long,
small pond of wet leaves, hoping to spot a frog jump to safety. No response.
Back at my
computer, I googled “frogs” and the American Museum of Natural History provided
fun facts:
- The world’s largest frog can grow to
15 inches and weigh 7 pounds!
- Launched by their long legs, many
frogs can leap more than 20 times their body length.
- Frogs have been known to live for 20
years.
- Male frogs have vocal sacs. These
balloon-like pouches resonate sounds like a megaphone and can be heard a mile away
as they call a mate.
“Leviticus
classifies the frog as an unclean animal. The imagery suggests the deceptive
propaganda that will, in the last days, lead people to accept and support the
cause of evil.” (The NIV Study Bible)
“But all creatures in the seas or
streams
that do not have fins and scales –
whether among all the swarming things
or among all the other living creatures
in the water –
you are to detest.”
(Leviticus 11:10 NIV)
My
amphibious neighbors represent wickedness in God’s Kingdom. God calls me to ignore
evil’s clamor and listen only to Him.
I will disregard
the croaks of deceptive propaganda that try to pull me away from the Truth. I
hope you will, too!
