“How precious to me are your thoughts,
O God!
How vast is the sum of them!”
(Psalm 139:17 NIV)
What is
the biggest thing you can think of? Now push the limits of your mind and think
bigger! God is even beyond that! He created infinity!
My
husband, Jeff, asked me a strange question recently. “How tall do you think a
trillion dollars in $1,000-dollar bills would be?” He had viewed a video “How
Much is a Trillion?” on YouTube. “I don’t know,” I replied. “Three
feet?” Now, keep in mind that a trillion is a billion times a thousand. A
stack of a billion $1,000-dollar bills is 67.9 miles high or long, depending on
how you visualize it. It should blow your mind, but it doesn’t blow God’s. He
is accustomed to large numbers, as well as tiny details.
My vision
blurred as I watched the colorful, flashing monitors above me in the emergency
room’s trauma center. “I’m passing out,” I whispered in trepidation. The nearby
nurse said, “Her heartbeat is 34 beats per minute!” After I heard sounds of
scrambling around me, I began to see the lights clearly again. A normal,
healthy heart beats approximately 60 beats per minute, 1 beat per second. Time
on earth is based on 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour. God created the
human body in sync with time!
I read
that God performs over 10,000 things for every one of us every day, but we only
realize a handful of them. He actually does much more. Our heavenly Father is
intimately connected to each of us. There are no gaps, no time not spent
with us and for us. Welcome to infinity and beyond!
I will pay
close attention to what God is doing all around me, in me, and for me. I hope
you will, too!
