“For where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also.”
(Matthew 6:21 NIV)
Book
number six of my God Sightings series was published. Three-hundred
devotions in several books covered a six-year journey of weekly weblogs. Not a
week of blogging was missed, although sometimes I came pretty close. I have
often asked God, “Why do you want me to write these blogs?”
One
morning while visiting my daughter’s family, Libby mentioned off-the-cuff her
daughter liked my God Sightings books. “Dahlia told me she planned on
reading each book in order,” she remarked.
“That’s
it, Lord!” I thought. “If no one else ever reads God Sightings, it is
enough that my granddaughter does so I can point her through them to you.”
Treasures in heaven came to mind. That is a heavenly treasure!
Do you
ever ask God why He is leading you in a particular direction? Do you ever
wonder why something out-of-the-ordinary is happening to you or to those you
love? We may never know what our Creator is doing in our lives in order to
bring others closer to Him. I might not be able to understand or trust the
process, but I can definitely trust the Processor. When faced with a difficult
situation, I will choose praise over panic and worry every time.
“As the heavens are higher than the
earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your
thoughts.”
(Isaiah 55:9 NIV)
I do not
need to know the “why” of my heavenly Father’s leading, as long as He
knows His perfect reasons. (He is God and I am not.) The Holy Spirit is my
greatest Treasure, here on earth now and in eternity.
I will follow my Treasure into the unknown today and trust His guidance. I hope you will, too!
