“Because he loves me,” says the Lord,
“I will rescue him; I will protect
him,
for he acknowledges my name.”
(Psalm 91:14 NIV)
We pulled
into the campsite and reviewed the checklist. When Jeff turned on the water at
the spigot, it leaked from the camper’s outside shower. He tightened the
plastic shower knob and it broke. While he called the dealer, I drove to the
camp office and returned with a list of local RV repairmen. We connected with
Chad’s Mobile RV. Chad and his assistant arrived in a few hours, fixed the
problem, and checked for other leaks. He was a godsend.
After
lunch the next day we drove to a vacuum cleaner repair shop located thirty
minutes from the campsite. We asked Wayne if our fourteen-year-old machine
could be repaired or salvaged for parts. Wayne replaced the beater brush and
belt and declared it was fixed. Jeff and I had expected to leave our Oreck and
drive two hours to pick it up another day. We left instead with a like-new
vacuum cleaner. We thanked God all the way back to the campground.
I glanced
out the window of the camper while fixing dinner and observed an ominous flame
filling our small grill on the picnic table. I did not think of it again until
Jeff woke me up in the night and asked if my steak tasted funny. He suddenly
realized he had stored a full propane canister under the burners in the grill
and forgot about it. Angels protected him from a deadly explosion.
We will
never forget that camping trip to High Falls State Park. God confirmed He is
always with us and cares about all we are going through.
I thank my
Heavenly Father for His personal guidance, surprise provisions, and angelic
protection. I hope you will, too!
