“He brought me out into a spacious
place;
he rescued me because he delighted in
me.”
(Psalm 18:19 NIV)
The Lord
leads me to spacious places and helps me see Him more clearly. As I write this
blog, my husband and I are camping with our grandson, Carver, at Mistletoe
State Park near Appling, Georgia. It is one of my favorite campgrounds, because
it presents breathtaking big-water scenes over clear Clarks Hill Lake.
When Jeff,
my husband, and I were looking for a place to enjoy on a lake in Georgia, one
of my criteria was big water. We were thrilled when God led us to a cabin on a waterfront
lot with a view that stretches one mile across Lake Oconee.
Our God
resides in all unlimited locations. When I enter a spacious place I take a deep
breath in of the Holy Spirit and thank Him for bringing me there.
The
whirring helicopter blades warned lift off was imminent. The pilot swung the
craft in a circle over the airport then headed east over the pine trees. He directed
our attention to points of interest along the way and alerted us to impending
sights to come. When we flew over the edge of the Grand Canyon, the bottom
dropped out of my chest. The experience was exhilarating, unlike any airplane
ride. I experienced an amazing “spacious place” as we flew in and over America’s
colossal canyon.
Along with
open spaces, the Lord always leads me to hike on level paths and reminds me to
stay focused on Him.
“You broaden the path beneath me,
so that my ankles do not turn.”
(Psalm 18:36 NIV)
I will follow
the Holy Spirit into spacious places on the broad and level paths He has laid
out for me. I hope you will, too!
