“We know that the whole creation
has been groaning as in the pains of
childbirth
right up to the present time.”
(Romans 8:22 NIV)
My
heavenly Father appears to me in different ways. My husband, Jeff, has enjoyed
playing Minecraft, but the thought of any video game other than Tetris makes me
cringe. I love documentation and organization, but my creative friend, Meagan,
would rather toss papers into the air and see where they fall. She shakes her
head when she passes by our church’s workroom as I punch holes into papers for
my many notebooks.
God
reveals Himself to us in unique ways to fit our unique personalities. My
granddaughter adores anything miniature. Her brother loves Lego kits. My other
grandson eats and breathes soccer. In order for me to relate to them, I must
get on their level and understand their interests.
Jesus did
just that. He got down on our level so we could have a relationship with Him. Even
His own people did not recognize Him. They did not expect Him to come in the
way He came.
Our Youth
Pastor taught our congregation one Sunday morning how to wait on God. He
expertly laid out the steps required and described the heart needed in order to
trust our heavenly Father when the end is not in sight. I have jumped the gun
with God so many times each day. When will I learn this important lesson?
Oswald
Chambers reminded me, “Always be in a state of expectancy, and see that you
leave room for God to come in as He likes. Expect Him to come, but do not
expect Him only in a certain way.”
I will look for the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself in a new way today and not question His methods. I hope you will, too!
