“If you pay attention to these laws
and are careful to follow them,
then the Lord your God will keep
His covenant of love with you
as He swore to your forefathers.”
(Deuteronomy 7:12 NIV)
My credit
union recently changed its name. When I logged in online, I was asked to change
my User ID for the new platform. I falsely assumed I was asked to change my
password. The next time I tried to log into that account I was locked out after
three erroneous attempts. I called the credit union and the User ID/Password
confusion was successfully cleared. God got my attention.
Jeff and I
watched the recent installment of a TV series. Three friends were on a road
trip into the wintry wilderness. Chains were installed on their car’s tires
while the passengers waited in the service center. When the cashier discovered
where they were headed, she warned them to take another route because of bad
weather. The instructions were ignored. The car ran out of gas and left them
frozen in the snow.
I am a
pianist/accompanist. My passion is to play for choirs. Sometimes I am asked to accompany
a vocal or instrumental soloist during their performance. Recently I have played
four-hand duets with another pianist on the same piano. Side by side we
accompanied each other in a unique setting. Accompanying is a crucial test to
be “in the now” and not allow my mind to wander.
As a car
driver, I must pay attention to what happens around me in order to avoid danger.
Close calls remind me to stay focused and “live in the now” behind the wheel and
under God’s umbrella of protection.
I will ask
my heavenly Father to help me pay attention and live “in the now” for His
glory. I hope you will, too!
