“At the Lord’s command they encamped,
and at the Lord’s command they set
out.
They obeyed the Lord’s order,
in accordance with his command through
Moses.”
(Numbers 9:23 NIV)
Eric, the
physical therapy technician, followed me as I laboriously pushed the walker
down the hallway. I ran headlong into Cora, one of the hospital administrators.
“Who are you looking for?” the technician asked. “Her!” she said pointing at
me.
Cora had
come into my room the morning before as I was writing, “No More Pain,” for my
weekly blog. Dr. Colby had walked into the room as we discussed writing
opportunities and how to publish an online web log. I asked to share my God
Sighting with them and they graciously listened as I read the words my
heavenly Father had given me. Tears flowed and I choked as I recalled my
injury.
I sat
propped up in my hospital bed that afternoon and watched snippets of a golf
tournament. My thoughts were not on the golfers, but on the spectators. “Lord,
look! They can walk!” I mused with envy.
When Cora
handed me my marching orders/discharge papers that afternoon in the hallway, she
remarked, “You have a lot of ‘God Sightings’ to take home with you.” I agreed.
“This is
not what I planned, Lord,” I complained. “I want to stay in the campground with
the Israelites one more day. It is too painful to move.”
God’s
plans and His ways are not mine. Patience is not my virtue. I want to be healed
now and walk now and climb steps now and drive a car now!
There is a
specific order to everything. I will try to not rush ahead of God and work
things out my way.
I will
trust my Lord to give me my marching orders for today. I hope you will, too!
