“She came up behind Jesus
and touched the edge of his cloak,
and immediately her bleeding stopped.”
(Luke 8:44 NIV)
My husband
and I packed up the camper to leave Georgia’s Elijah Clark State Park. I put
all the inside items into secure places, while Jeff turned off the water and
retracted the stabilizer bars. Suddenly he noticed a young toddler wandering
down the busy roadway that connected the camp sites.
Jeff ran
out into the street and guided the boy back toward the tent where his family stayed.
A state park truck drove up and evaluated the situation. The ranger got out of
his truck and called out to the campers in the tent. He explained to the father
that a wandering child on the premises was not acceptable.
I had
noticed pickup trucks speed past our camper during our stay. We were near the
end of the campground, so drivers unfortunately assumed they were allowed to
increase their speed near our site. We are so thankful God interrupted Jeff at
an opportune time to avert any disastrous accidents with a young child.
Early one
morning I looked up from my computer to witness a sunrise that looked like a
firestorm. I walked out onto my balcony to the sound of crickets, a rooster’s crow,
and a fish leap out of the water. “Come and meet with me,” I heard Jesus say.
Sometimes
God has to call, “Time out!” I get busy taking care of what presses against me and
I don’t see what really happens around me. My heavenly Father welcomes
interruptions. Just like Jesus welcomed the touch of the needy, I need to look
for opportunities to stop and serve in His kingdom.
I will pay
attention to what God wants to reveal to me. I hope you will, too!
