“He said to me: ‘It is done.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End.
To him who is thirsty I will give to
drink without cost
from the spring of the water of life.”
(Revelation 21:6 NIV)
“I have come to bring fire on the
earth,
and how I wish it were already
kindled!”
(Luke 12:49 NIV)
In the
beginning, God created water and fire, essentials for life here on earth. They
are gracious gifts when they are properly used. Jesus is the Water of Life. The
Holy Spirit is the consuming Fire.
I looked
out my studio window one morning after several days of heavy rains to a red sun.
The eastern sky was crimson. Sunlight scattered through moisture and dust in
the atmosphere. Storms began to form in the west.
Our water pump
was dying. On his first visit, Eric replaced it and then discovered a leak. The
new pump had been damaged during shipment. Eric turned to my husband, Jeff, and
said, “I guess God wants me to come back here – I never question His guidance!”
When our
house was built, we struggled to burn wooden logs, then gas logs, so Jeff
called a company to inspect our fireplace. They immediately noticed our chimney
was not constructed according to proper specifications. I texted our builder.
He sent out one of his contractors, who fixed the chimney at no charge.
According
to my Google search, “Water and fire symbolize life, fertility, creativity,
and inspiration in cultures around the world. At the same time, water and
fire also represent loss, death, and destruction. Water and fire are mutually
destructive—water will extinguish a flame, just as fire will boil water away to
nothing.”
I will
thank my heavenly Father for his precious gifts of Water and Fire today. I hope
you will, too!
