“Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be
afraid.
Stand firm and you will see the
deliverance
the Lord will bring you today.
The Egyptians you see today you will
never see again.’”
(Exodus 14:13 NIV)
Pastor Bob
told the congregation a story one Sunday morning about a college student
reading his Bible on a campus lawn. The student exclaimed, “Wow! That is
amazing!” just as a professor walked by. The man asked the student what he was
reading. The student replied, “I am reading how God parted the Red Sea so all
of the Israelites could cross on dry land!”
“Well,”
retorted the professor, “you see, the Red Sea was only three inches deep at
their crossing.” Then he walked away.
A little
later the same professor crossed the campus near the student and heard the
young man again say, “Wow! That is amazing!” Curious, the man walked up to the
student and asked what was so amazing. The student replied, “God drowned the
whole Egyptian army in three inches of water!”
I received
a good laugh and was reminded of the power of God. How many times have I
discounted His sovereignty and tried to explain away His miracles? How many
times have I doubted His amazing power in my daily life?
Only by
the will of God, I can drive my car or walk one mile. Only through my heavenly
Father’s love and protection can I enjoy being with Him every day.
Nothing
happens by chance. I dare not limit my abilities to my own imperfection. When I
am weak, He pours His power through me just because He loves me and wants to
reveal Himself to me. It is not about me, but about Him.
I will praise my Creator, Sustainer God for His power poured into me. I hope you will, too!
