“All this also comes from the Lord
Almighty,
wonderful in counsel and magnificent in
wisdom.”
(Isaiah 28:29 NIV)
My laptop
computer’s spacebar was sticking. No matter how slow or fast I typed, the words
jammed together and created a visual mess. As a pianist, I know when one of my
fingers does not cooperate, so I realized my hands were not the problem. A
sticking piano key is one problem, but this scenario created a uniquely
stressful frustration for a writer.
I spend
several hours every morning typing on my computer. I did not need the stress of
backing up and fixing what I had typed. I decided to ignore the problem and let
my words run together. That was not a good solution. I asked God to guide me in
what to do next. I sensed He told me to wait.
The next
morning when I opened my laptop and started typing, the problem had disappeared!
No more sticking spacebar! Was it a miracle? Had my temperment and typing style
changed during the night?
I chuckled
at the vision of my heavenly Father smiling down on me, knowing He fixed the
problem. Whether in my fingers or on the keyboard, it does not matter. Peace
was restored by the only One who could.
Some might
say it was all in my head. Some might say the update that was installed when I
turned off the laptop that night made the difference. I believe God is involved
in my little, petty problems, even sticky laptop keys. My faith is always strengthened
in menial, mundane tasks.
“Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”
(Psalm 124:8 NIV)
I will thank my heavenly Father for all the attention He gives me, especially in seemingly small, personal events. I hope you will, too!
